A Painted View Ranch

More than 200 horses from across the country will compete for titles while showing their horsemanship cutting skills.

The cutting horse sport began after mirroring a range management need, and dates back to a time when ranchers in the West hired cowboys to work sorting through herds of cattle out on the open range, separating those in need of branding or doctoring. Today, cutting horse competition rules and regulations are governed by the National Cutting Horse Association.

The show is free of charge for spectators; food will be available for a fee.

July 26-29, beginning at 8 am. At A Painted View Ranch, 3115 County Road 160, Westcliffe.
