Ocean Wind Turbine Sets New Record

A world record 215,999.1 kilowatt-hours of electricity was generated by a new 720-foot tall wind turbine in 24 hours on December 1, 2016, off the coast of Denmark. That is enough electricity to power an average American household for 20 years.

The record-setting offshore turbine features 35-ton blades. It is a 9-megawatt prototype built by Vestas Wind Systems and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
